该书的理论框架是Linda Zagzebski's exemplarism.  作者强调善的lived experience（即exemplar），而非善的先决条件。The lived experience of goodness rather than serving as a precondition for it. 

Confucius and his students share an admiration for certain exemplars, which provide a pre-theoretical foundation for the moral sensibility of the Analects. 榜样是前理论的基础。
